Daniel is an unassuming sort of bloke, he comes into our shop regularly and when we first opened up and started to offer hire bikes he popped in one day and asked to hire a bike, at the time we didn't fully understand what this meant to Daniel but we were soon to find out.
What's In The Shop 2 - Gravel Grinding
1 CommentThe second bike we're featuring is the the Marin Gestalt 2. This is a bike that's designed to carry on rolling when those smooth tarmac roads turn into loose, uneven back country lanes. As well as a ride for gravel, the Gestalt 2 is just as at home on your daily commute or as a tough winter steed for when the weather gets cold and wet. It's tough, fast, and it looks good. The whole package.

What Marin say:
"Looking to get Beyond Road? The Gestalt 2 can take you there, whether the road is paved or not. Our lightweight, butted aluminum Series 3 frame is matched with a lightweight, vibration-damping carbon-bladed fork. Drivetrain duties are handled by a dependable SRAM 1x10 drivetrain with a wide-range 11-42t cassette. Tektro mechanical disc brakes provide confidence-inspiring stopping power, while Schwable's sublime G-ONE folding bead, 30c tires roll smoothly on road and provide a surprising amount of grip on dirt. Integrated rack and fender mounts also help to make the Gestalt 2 an excellent choice for commuting or light touring."
What the critics say:
"The Marin Gestalt 2 is an absolute blast to ride off-road. That extra-low gear means previously unrideable slopes can be tackled with ease."
"The Marin Gestalt 2 is a clever bike with a lot of flexibility for on and off road riding. It delivers the benefits of single ring shifting without the expense."

First up is the Marin Nail Trail 6. An aggressive, all-rounder hardtail that's just as fun on technical trails as it is on all day epics.
Nail Trail 6 29er 2017
Was: £1000 - Now: £900! - Save 10%
We have 1 Marin Nail Trail 6 29er left in stock in a 19" frame.
What Marin say:
"Longer, lower, slacker is the mantra for the updated Nail Trail line this year. The advanced Series 3 double butted aluminum frame features internal cable routing and a 142x12mm rear thru-axle, along with modern trail-focused geometry. Drivetrain duties are handled by a wide-range SRAM NX 1x11 system, while the wheelset features tubeless-ready rims with 29mm inner width mated to Schwalbe performance tires. A RockShox Recon Silver fork smooths out the ride while Shimano hydraulic disc brakes help keep speed in check."
What the critics say:
"The Marin Nail Trail 6 is has a predictable and fun ride, which is backed up by a smart component selection that will last well.
As far as we’re concerned, the measure of a great bike is how much you end up wanting to ride it – and how little you notice the actual bike when out. The Marin Nail Trail 6 fits right in there – whilst it looks great when lent up against a tree, you soon forget about it when pointed down hill.
It inspires you to get out and give anything a whirl , and is a mountain bike perfect for upgrading as you progress with the bike."
